16 kinds of small appliances have security risks

2011年1月8日《每日经济新闻》报道，北京市工商局对16种有安全问题的小家电进行停售处罚。这些小家电中有10种来自广东，包括一款标称廉江市尚朋堂电器有限公司(制造)、苏泊尔电器有限公司监制的“SUATEY”快速电热开水壶。
促成这项处罚的是北京市工商局近期委托北京市信息产品质检站对在本市销售的家用电器商品进行的质量监测。被检测的产品包括电子泡茶壶、离子烫发器、电热开水壶、多功能酸奶机、电吹风、电火锅等，这些都是居民家中常用的电器产品。
在这项检测中发现，有些样品的使用说明书未按国家标准要求明确表示出其相关的内容，从而给消费者在使用中造成了很大的困惑及危险；有的电热水壶和电吹风输入功率和电流不合格，与其标注的额定输入功率的偏差相差甚远；还有的商品上的电源插头未达到标准要求。比如，“苏美”多功能酸奶机和“华龙双星”多功能电热锅的电源连接和外部软线不合格，在使用过程中极易过热，有发生触电及着火的危险。这些粗制滥造的小电器，如果不加以禁止出售的话，必然对消费者的安全和生活带来巨大的隐患和不便。
据《中国经济新闻》2008年第2期报道，虽然目前中国家庭平均拥有小家电的数量远远低于欧美发达国家，但是中国小家电市场的发展却很迅速，同时利润高达15-30%，正式在这种利润诱惑之下，许多厂商都涌入小家电市场，在缺乏相关管理措施的情况下，产品的质量必然会参差不齐，滥竽充数者混迹其中，此次北京的整顿，或许会对这些小家电商产生一定的威慑效应。

Ten of them are from Guangdong, including one “SUATEY” fast electric kettle produced by Lianjiang Shang Peng Tang Electric Co., Ltd. and monitored by Supor Electrical Co., Ltd.
It’s the quality investigation to the home appliances products sold in local shops taken by information product quality inspection station of Beijing commissioned by Beijing Municipal Bureau of Commerce and Industry prompts to impose the punishment. The products investigated include teapot, ion perm, electric kettle, multi yogurt machine, hair dryer, cooker, etc, which are all home electrical products commonly used in residents house.
The test found that some samples of the manual fails to demonstrate clearly relevant content according the national standards, and thus bringing great confusion and danger to consumers in use; some electric kettle and hair dryer do not have qualified input power and the current, with great deviation from the rated input power; some product’s power plug does not meet the standards. For example, the "Sumei" multi-functional yogurt machine and "Hualong Double Star" multi-functional food warmer and external power cord connection do not meet standard, which could be easily overheated in use, and there is risk of electric shock and fire hazard. These shoddy small appliances, if not banned the sale, would certainly bring great risk and inconvenience to consumers.
According to the report on the 2nd issue of 2008 China Economic News, although the average number of small appliances owned per home in China is less than that of Europe and USA, the market of China is developing greatly. And the profit in this market is about 15%-30%. Attracted by this huge profit, many companies all entered into the market. Without related regulation police, the quality of product would be uneven, and there are many products not meeting the standard. This punishment in Beijing could cause some deterrence effect to some companies.
